Financial Goals
People have different goals for their finances in later life. You may choose to handle your money differently than others around you. You want to be clear about your goals so that you can communicate what you want to others.
When surveyed, people told Dr. Stum about different goals they had. These goals included:
- Remain financially independent.
- Maintain control of my finances.
- Keep my financial affairs private.
- Involve family members (with care and/or finances).
- Utilize government services.
- Leave an inheritance.
Listen to ”Let’s Talk (part 2): Goals and Expectations” to help clarify your goals and plans.
Once we have an idea of our goals and expectations for managing the costs of long-term care needs, we need to think about how we expect to pay for these needs.
Dr. Marlene Stum continues the conversation in “Let’s Talk (part 3): Who Should Pay?”
